(Morristown, NJ, January 2023) — The Board of Trustees of the Morris Museum has announced that Andrew Sandall, Executive Director, will step down in late February to accept the role of CEO at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton, Florida. Sandall joined the Morris Museum in January 2022.

Board Chair Edward von der Linde commented that the Museum will miss Andrew’s professionalism and depth of experience and wishes him well with his new position. “Andy’s tenure has helped to focus the Morris Museum’s mission to provide educational and cultural opportunities to the greater Morristown community.”

The Morris Museum is one of New Jersey’s largest museums and the only Smithsonian Affiliate. Sandall says this of his time at the Museum: “It was an amazing year at the Morris Museum, and I can't thank our supporters enough for the enthusiasm they've shown and the welcome they have given me since I arrived. I'm very excited to see where the Museum goes in the future after all the hard work the trustees, staff and I have put into becoming much more aligned with the needs of the local community. Morris County has much to be proud of with the only Smithsonian Affiliate in the whole of New Jersey right on its doorstep!”

Sandall’s previous position was at the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach, Florida where he was the Executive Director from May 2012 to January 2022. During his tenure he led the construction of the Lohman Planetarium and of the Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, and he modernized the Museum’s programming and exhibits.  

Next steps are currently being discussed by the Board.
