HISTORY AT HOME: PHOTOGRAPHY OF CHARLES WARREN EATON, 1900 TO 1925

Historical Society of Bloomfield Trustee Rich Rockwell presents a new program on the photography of Charles Warren Eaton from 1900 to 1925. Rockwell discovered a set of over 1,000 negatives of Charles Warren Eaton’s photos of sites in Europe – Bruges, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands – scenes of canals, windmills, architecture and street scenes.  Eaton lived in Bloomfield from 1887 until his death in 1937.  He was known for his intimate landscapes in the Tonalist style and was particularly known for his pine tree paintings.  He used his photographs as models for paintings back in his studio in Bloomfield.  He was a protégé of George Innes.  LEARN MORE

BUILD MONTCLAIR IN LEGOS

Sunday, MARCH 12th at 12 pm, 1 pm, and 2 pm

Work with architect Stephen W. Schwartz of Building Blocks Workshops to visualize Montclair as you’ve never seen it before. With over 60,000 LEGO™ building blocks at their disposal, families select a photograph of a Montclair building to turn into a LEGO™ model. These models are then placed on a 30 x 20 foot map of Montclair. There are two sessions for this event: 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m AND 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Space is limited for each session and a parent or adult must accompany children.  This event takes place at the Montclair Art Museum on South Mountain Avenue. Tickets and more information can be found here!
