Michigan Dems Chair applauds Senate Democrats’ dedication to fighting for Michiganders’ access to Medicaid

LANSING - On May 20, 2025, Michigan Senate Democrats passed a resolution, sponsored by state Senator Kevin Hertel, calling for Congress to stop the reckless attacks and fully fund Medicaid. Following its passage, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement: 

“I’m so proud of state Senate Democrats for standing up to Trump and Congressional Republicans’ dangerous attempts to defund Medicaid and leave hundreds of thousands of Michiganders without coverage. 

“It would only take four House Republicans to stand up and fight back to protect Michiganders’ access to Medicaid, but they won’t do it. As long as these baseless attacks on Michiganders’ health care continue, Michigan Democrats will keep standing up and fighting back to protect working families across the state.”
