Glasstire is the oldest online-only art magazine in the country. They are proud to promote the visual arts in Texas to a local, regional and national audience since their founding by Houston writer Rainey Knudson in 2001. Glasstire is the only publication in Texas that is producing serious art criticism on a daily basis. They are the journal of record for the Texas visual art community.

Powerful Pairings in “Witness: Black Artists in Texas, Then and Now”

"...With nearly 70 works in the exhibition, these pairings just scratch the surface of the depth of Witness. Though not laid out thematically, through the exhibition the audience can make connections across time between themes in [John] Biggers’ work and those of artists working today, including the importance of women in Black life and history, strength and unity through family and community, the significance of place and geography, and visual elements and references such as patterned textiles, animals, and elongated figures."

Susan kae Grant: Shadowing Grace

Presented throughout the Grace Museum’s entire bottom floor, Shadowing Grace highlighted works spanning numerous series from Grant’s career and offered a comprehensive look at her ongoing visual exploration of REM sleep and dreams. In addition to her silhouetted photographs, the exhibition included Night Journey, a site-specific installation which viewers could walk through, and a re-creation of the artist’s studio, providing a close look into her process.
