Pushing Our Fight Forward for Older Americans Month

In honor of Older Americans Month, our team took to Capitol Hill to do what we do best — fight for the millions of seniors waiting for nutritious meals and meaningful connection. Leaders from across the Meals on Wheels network met with lawmakers in both chambers of Congress to urge them to protect critical programs that support seniors. And it made a difference.

While our message made the difference in safeguarding some key funding, other critical programs like Medicaid and SNAP are under threat. As 2025 budget decisions are underway, we still have work to do to ensure America's older adults get the life-changing services they need.

We can’t do it alone. We need your voice to keep the momentum going. Join the fight by learning more about our advocacy agenda, reading about where the threats are now and being a voice for seniors nationwide.

Meet Mrs. Janie: A Story of Resilience and Connection

At 93, Mrs. Janie, a proud Texan, has lived a life rich with experiences — from her days as a poet and model to raising a family. After the loss of her husband and facing health challenges, she found herself isolated and struggling. Meals on Wheels San Antonio stepped in, providing not just nutritious meals but also the companionship and support she needed.

Today, the volunteers are more than just meal deliverers; they're friends who bring joy and a sense of belonging back into her life.

A Meal with Meaning at 107

If you need a little joy today, meet Celesta. The New Jersey resident just turned 107 and celebrated with her favorite Italian meal delivered by Meals on Wheels.

Celebrating seniors like Celesta isn't just about turning another year older. It's about being seen, valued and loved. That’s the kind of connection Meals on Wheels makes possible every day for millions of older adults. Her story is a beautiful reminder: Meals on Wheels isn’t just food — it’s a lifeline.
