The Fight for Senior Independence Continues

This month, Meals on Wheels supporters made their voices heard, reminding lawmakers that older adults deserve to age with dignity and live nourished lives. On July 14, the 60th anniversary of the Older Americans Act (OAA), more than 1,400 supporters like you advocated to fund and protect the OAA, the lifesaving legislation that powers programs like Meals on Wheels. That’s a milestone worth celebrating, and we’re so grateful for your support.

That surge of advocacy followed close on the heels of Independence Day. Earlier in the month, we had shared the story of Thomas, an Army veteran in Alaska whose Meals on Wheels deliveries help him stay safe, healthy and independent at home. His story reflects the kind of freedom we fight to protect every day.

But too many older adults are still waiting, and the need is urgent. Together, let’s keep fighting for the independence every senior deserves. Learn more and see how you can help.
