Genealogy Club
Monday, June 12th- 6:00pm
Have you wanted to start searching for your ancestors but didn't know where to start? The Genealogy group meets at the library once a month and new members are always welcome! The group is made up of family historians interested in sharing resources and tips to accurately find their ancestors while helping others with their search.
Farmacy Herbs Class: Teas & Infusion
Thursday, June 1st- 6:00pm
Join us as we learn about blending herbal teas and infusions to support your health from Farmacy Herbs. We will talk about the difference between teas and infusions and how to prepare them for a daily boost of nutrients. We will also talk about the benefits of different herbs to support your body and how many of these herbs are found right outside your door and/or kitchen cabinet! Space is limited and registration is required.
Farmacy Herbs is a herbal tea shop and community education center based in Providence, Rhode Island that offers a large selection of bulk dried herbs, tea blends, local honey, books, classes and herbal products. You can find more about Farmacy Herbs at www.farmacyherbs.com.

Scrapbook Therapy
Monday, June 5th- 5:00pm
Join us to start recording your own story with Scrapbooking! Beginners and experienced scrap bookers are welcome. Please bring your own materials and come set your creative side free. Eileen will host an informal session to encourage people to work on their scrapbooks. The group will meet on the first Monday of the month at 5:00pm. Hiking the Appalachian Trail
Thursday, June 8th- 6:00pm
Avid hiker and Appalachian Mountain Club leader Elise Hedglen will give a presentation about hiking the Appalachian Trail, a 2,200 mile long-distance hiking trail that passes through 14 states, from Georgia to Maine. She will share photos, bring some gear, and provide tips for successful hikes.
Elise leads hiking trips for the Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club, and has climbed all 48 peaks over 4,000 feet in New Hampshire in both summer and winter, all 5 in Vermont, and all 14 in Maine, totaling 67. Registration required.

Writing Workshop

Join Professor Nancy Shuster for a free writing workshop! Even if you have never written more than a postcard come and join us. We will focus on different types of writing including life story writing, poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
Please bring a pen and a notebook for notes and in-class writing. Contact Prof. Shuster at [email protected] if you have any questions. Students of all ages are welcome. Registration required.

This summer we will be using Beanstack where adults can read to win prizes! Beanstack is a virtual reading challenge website where readers can earn badges for completing tasks and reading books. June is Alzhiemer's & Brain Awareness Month! Join Terry Fogerty of Rhode Island Hospital’s Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders Program for a fun interactive presentation about memory, including what’s normal and not, how it works, and tips and tricks to help strengthen our memory as we age.

Tuesday Matinee: Where the Crawdads Sing

Join us for an afternoon movie and popcorn! This month we'll be showing Where the Crawdads Sing (PG-13, 2hr & 5mins).
From the best-selling novel comes a captivating mystery. Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

2023 Summer Reading Kickoff Party!

Kids, teens, and adults are welcome join us for an afternoon of fun & games on the library lawn! Celebrate summer and register for summer reading with our librarians. Special guest Greg Lato will be playing music at 11:00am!
A Del's truck will be at the library to celebrate! Participants who register for summer reading will get a free Del's lemonade!
