FRIENDS' ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE

The Friends of the Narragansett library will be sponsoring their annual food drive for

the Community Market at St Peter’s Church from Jan 15 thru Feb 15.

Please donate a non perishable food item, or a personal care item and/or a monetary donation would be gratefully accepted.

Suggestions for FOOD BANK DONATION

-Mac and Cheese and Rice a Roni in the box

-Boxed milk

-Pasta sauce and boxes of pasta. Glass jars accepted.

-Canned veggies and soup - please try to purchase pop top cans.

-Cooking Oil and Olive oil

-Tea bags and coffee

-Sugar and flour

-Boxed cake mixes, muffins and dessert bars. Cans of frosting

-Canned proteins such as tuna, chicken, salmon and sardines.

-Personal products - such as tooth paste, shampoo and conditioner, soap, feminine hygiene products and body lotion

Donations can be dropped off from Jan 15 thru Feb 15 in the Library foyer during library hours.

Youth Services Programs

LAPSIT STORY TIME FOR LITTLE ONES!

Babies and toddlers ages 0-2 are invited with a caregiver to attend a weekly story time and singing just for them! This event takes place Tuesdays at 10am from 1/3-2/7

Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend a weekly story and song program! This event takes place Thursdays at 10am from 1/5 through 2/9

Careers with Animals: Middle & High School!

On Sat. Jan. 28 from 11-12, Animal Rescue RI welcomes 5th-12th graders to learn about careers they could pursue in the future. These include farming, veterinary medicine, zookeeping, animal training, and more! Discussion will include talk of continuing education programs, but also jobs that are available without college degrees. Registration is required and begins 1/09.

After School Games & Toys!

Every Tuesday in January from 4-5pm, kids, teens, and families are welcome to come to the Program Room to play board games, Legos, trains, do some art, and more! We will rotate materials to have something new every week! No registration is required, children under 10 must be supervised by an adult. Come unwind after school!

BOOK CLUB WITH MS JANE

Calling all 3rd and 4th graders! Ms Jane will be

doing a book club once a month for the duration of the school year. Meetings

are short and include snacks! Come in

beforehand to check out a copy of the book. The next meeting is Monday,

Rhody Critters: Keeping the Balance!

Are you in grades 2-6? Do you love wildlife?

Join us on Thurs. Jan. 19^th from 5:30-6:30 to learn about different species here in RI and how they all affect one another and us! There will also be some cool artifacts to examine, such as animal skulls, feathers, and antlers all provided by the Rhode Island DEM! Registration is required and begins 1/5.

TEEN PROGRAMS

Teen Jewelry Making!

On Wed. Jan. 11 & Jan.25 at 5pm, children and teens ages 11-18 are invited to learn how to make jewelry using resin. We will use a kit that melts resin into shapes and color can be added as desired. Participants get to keep what they make! Registration is required

VHS TO DVD SERVICE IS BACK!!!

Are all your old home movies on VHS tapes that are hard to watch or share? Reserve our VHS to DVD converter to transfer your VHS tapes. There will be a staff member on hand to answer questions. Re-writeable DVDs cost $1 each. This is a time consuming process so bookings are in 2 hour increments. When you register, please leave phone number so staff can confirm your appointment. Once you are familiar with the procedure, it is possible to book the machine for other time-slots but there may not be a staff member available to answer questions outside the official appointments. Our machine is built for full size VHS tapes, though we do have an adapter for the VHS-s tapes; we cannot do 8 mm video tapes.

Please note that copyrighted material can not be converted.
