E. W. Burman Inc. was awarded the contract for construction and has all the approvals in place!

Genealogy Club

Monday, April 10th- 6:00pm
Have you wanted to start searching for your ancestors but didn't know where to start? The Genealogy group meets at the library once a month and new members are always welcome! The group is made up of family historians interested in sharing resources and tips to accurately find their ancestors while helping others with their search.

Card Crafting with Patti Arkwright
Monday, April 17th - 6:30pm
Paper Card Crafting supplies and instruction are free! Make a card to show someone you care. Pre-registration is required.

Excel Basics
Tuesdays, April 11th, 18th, 25th
11:00am- 12:30pm
A progressive & informational presentation on Excel Basics. You will be guided through formulas, functions and charts. Participants will need to bring in their own laptops with Excel. Sessions are continuous, it is recommended to register for all three sessions.

There is No GPS for Grief w/ Dr. Mari Dias
Thursday, April 13th- 6:00pm-7:00pm
Dr. Mari Nardolillo Dias, the “Grief Whisperer,” will teach the essentials for understanding and navigating grief. Dr. Dias will provide a visual overview of the types of grief and grieving, including traumatic and complicated grief, and will discuss the effects of grief on the brain. Copies of her books, GriefSPEAK Stories of Loss, Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 will be available for sale and signing.

Join this group of mature Potter fans and see some unusual and fun Harry Potter themed items you might not know about! Craft ideas that are simple and inexpensive and some easy fun ideas for Potter props and games! There will also be trivia & giveaways! Registration required.

SoulCollage Workshop
Wednesday, April 26th- 10:00am
Join us for a SoulCollage Workshop hosted by Lynn Larned, Certified SoulCollage Facilitator, RN, MA.
What is SoulCollage? A multi-leveled creative process that absolutely anyone can do, created by a woman named Seena Frost. Using cut out images from magazines we place them on cards to create a unique personal and meaningful collage for oneself. Registration Required.

Free Meditation Class
Thursday, April 27th- 6:30pm
These classes will teach "Inner Light Meditation" which is an ancient and powerful technique designed to elevate the consciousness and increase our awareness of our true inner self; that is not our body nor our mind. There are no restrictions on age, health status, fitness or flexibility. All are welcome and we meet monthly on the 4th Thursday.

AFTERNOON BOOK CLUB

This month we'll be reading and discussing The Magnolia Palace by Fiona Davis. The group meets monthly and copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk.

This month we'll be reading and discussing The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb. The group meets monthly and copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk.

LAPSIT STORY TIME FOR LITTLE ONES!
Babies and toddlers ages 0-2 are invited with a caregiver to attend a weekly story time and singing just for them! Tuesdays at 10am from 4/4-4/18, Registration Recommended

LITTLE RASCAL'S STORY TIME
Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend a weekly story and song program! Thursdays at 4:30pm from 4/6-4/20

Annual Egg Hunt
Friday, April 7th- 10:00am
Families with young children are welcome to come participate in our annual egg hunt on the lawn, weather permitting. Bring your own basket & registration required.

Planting & Transplanting for Kids!
Monday, April 10th- 2:00pm-3:00pm
Kids and teens ages 5 & up are invited to join Miss. Rebecca in planting and transplanting flowers and vegetables. Children will get to take home two plants, one planted from a seed, and the other transplanted into a larger pot. Registration required.

Coding Robots: Dash & Dot!
Wednesday, April 12th- 6:00pm-7:00pm
Children ages 7-12 are welcome to come learn an intro to coding for robots! Mobile Quest STEM center’s instructor will teach us how to code and test out this code on the robots! Registration Required.

Book Club with Miss Jane
Monday, April 17th 6:00pm-6:30pm
Calling all 3rd and 4th graders! Ms. Jane will be
doing a book club once a month for the duration of the school year. Meetings are short and include snacks! Come in
beforehand to check out a copy of the book. Registration required.

Owls of Rhode Island!
Wednesday, April 19th- 6:00pm-7:00pm
The Audubon Society of Rhode Island will be here to teach children in grades 3-8 all about owls!  Students learn about the owls that live in Rhode Island and their habitats, diet, senses, structures and functions. Students will have the opportunity to test their skills as owl detectives. We also get to meet a live owl! Registration required starting April 5th.

Perfectly Precious Peggy Book Signing
Monday, April 24th- 4:30pm-5:30pm
Join Dale Loomis, author and former educator in the Narragansett School District for a book reading of “Perfectly Precious Peggy”. This book is a true story about the life of a three-legged goat named Peggy. This book can be purchased on Amazon for under $12 if you’d like a copy. Registration is required starting April 10th.

Friends Monthly Meeting
There is no meeting in April. The next meeting will be Monday, May 1st at 1:00pm. All are welcome to attend.

Friends Library Fundraiser- Trio Restaurant
Tuesday, April 18th- 4:00pm-8:00pm
Make a reservation at Trio to support the library! A portion of the proceeds for the evening will go towards the new library building. There will also be a raffle with prizes. Tickets can be purchased at the library starting April 8th or at the event. Tickets cost: 1-$5, 3-$10, 8-$20

Friends Jewelry Sale

It's time to start cleaning out the jewelry box. You can bring in your unwanted jewelry for a future sale. Items can be dropped off during library hours.

All are invited to help us clean and sort jewelry for the sale. We do not require you to stay the whole time, sorting for an hour would be helpful!

VHS TO DVD SERVICE IS BACK!!!
Are all your old home movies on VHS tapes that are hard to watch or share? Reserve our VHS to DVD converter to transfer your VHS tapes. There will be a staff member on hand to answer questions. Re-writeable DVDs cost $1 each. This is a time consuming process so bookings are in 2 hour increments. When you register, please leave phone number so staff can confirm your appointment. Once you are familiar with the procedure, it is possible to book the machine for other time-slots but there may not be a staff member available to answer questions outside the official appointments. Our machine is built for full size VHS tapes, though we do have an adapter for the VHS-s tapes; we cannot do 8 mm video tapes. Please call the Library to make an appointment at this time.
