POWER FULL BECAUSE WE'RE DIFFERENT
On view beginning Sunday, November 3
Jeffrey Gibson’s upcoming commission POWER FULL BECAUSE WE’RE DIFFERENT will fill MASS MoCA’s signature Building 5 gallery space, and will be home to a series of performances by Indigenous creatives from across North America. Gibson is known for creating installations, performances, paintings, and sculpture that elevate and provide visibility to queer and Indigenous communities, whose cultural narratives have been historically marginalized. Preview the exhibition before it opens to the public by joining us on November 2 for a conversation with Gibson and Albert McLeod (human rights activist and a director of the Two-Spirited People of Manitoba), an Opening Preview Celebration, and concert by the trailblazing singer ANOHNI.
The Plastic Bag Store
Through November 3
"Highlight of my year." "Phenomenal." "The best piece of interactive art I've seen in awhile." See for yourself why visitors have raved about artist Robin Frohardt's The Plastic Bag Store, presented in association with Williamstown Theatre Festival, through November 3. This immersive, multimedia experience melds installation art, theater, film, and a whole lot of humor to spark critical reflection on our culture of consumption and convenience.
Advance tickets, priced at $25 and separate from museum admission, required. Discounts are available for MASS MoCA Members, kids ages 6–16, and Williamstown Theatre Festival donors. Not yet a member? Join today and save.
