Join us for a night at the museum on the second Thursday of each month this spring! In March, MASS MoCA After Hours will feature an indoor carnival with pop-ups from local writers and performers, roller coaster fun, a photo booth, and cotton candy.
After Hours is just $5 for Berkshire Residents, $10 for general admission, and free for members—see you there.

Joined by a smoking hot jazz trio and an ensemble of fellow hoofers, tap queen Dormeshia brings her critically acclaimed, classic-style tap concert to North Adams for an evening of thrilling percussive dance and music co-presented by Jacob’s Pillow.
Old Man and the Sea
Saturday, March 25, 4:30pm
Composer and National Sawdust co-founder, Paola Prestini returns to MASS MoCA with a work-in-progress preview of her new opera Old Man and the Sea, created with Royce Vavrek and Karmina Šilec and featuring MASS MoCA friend Helga Davis. The work interweaves Hemingway’s classic fable with original portraits of quotidian life to create a look at aging, legacy, and our relationship to oceans. The evening will include an excerpt of the new work, followed by a conversation on stage with the principal creative team.
In Conversation: Marc Swanson, Maggie Nelson, Susannah Sayler, & Edward Morris

Join artist Marc Swanson in conversation with writer Maggie Nelson and artists Susannah Sayler and Edward Morris as they talk about their respective works on mourning and climate change.

Eight Elements in Eight Hours
March 9, 10 & 11
In conjunction with William Kentridge Studios, Thulani Chauke, a principal dancer in The Head and the Load—developed and previewed at MASS MoCA (2018)—is in residence developing a site-specific durational dance in the galleries. Created with Albert Fana Tshabalala and featuring improvised live music, visitors are welcome to come and go throughout the day.

Carrie Schnieder: Sphinx
On view beginning March 11
In the new exhibition Sphinx, on view March 11, Carrie Schnieder looks at looking itself—the artist’s experimental, ingenious photographs (informed by the feminist theory of Laura Mulvey) use the camera’s imaginative potential to create bold new ways of seeing and understanding women. 2023 Capacity Building Grants for Massachusetts

Grants for Massachusetts artists! Applications are now open for Assets for Artists' 2023 Massachusetts Capacity-Building Grant Program. A cohort of 12-14 artists will be selected. Cohort members will receive $3,000, plus a variety of professional development and community-building resources.
