NEW THIS WEEK...
RETURN TO SEOUL — After an impulsive travel decision to visit friends, Freddie (Ji-Min Park), 25, returns to South Korea for the first time, where she was born before being adopted and raised in France. Freddie suddenly finds herself embarking on an unexpected journey in a country she knows so little about, taking her life in new and unexpected directions. A funny, melancholy, music-laced film that surprised me from start to finish. NY Times Critics Pick and 97% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
THE LOST KING is a British comedy-drama film directed by Stephen Frears and written by Steve Coogan (THE TRIP) and Jeff Pope, based on the 2013 book "The King's Grave: The Search for Richard III" by Philippa Langley and Michael Jones. In this inspiring true story, amateur historian Philippa Langley believes she has made the archeological find of the century: the lost burial site of King Richard III. She takes on Britain's most eminent historians, forcing them to rethink the legacy of one of the most controversial rulers in English history. Co-starring Sally Hawkins, Steve Coogan, and Mark Addy.

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT in collaboration with Netflix Films. Oscar winner for BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM and for its Cinematography, Production Design, and Music Score. Both timely and timeless, ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT retains the power of its classic source material by focusing on the futility of war. War breaks out in Germany in 1914. Paul Bäumer and his classmates quickly enlist in the army to serve their fatherland. No sooner are they drafted than the first images from the battlefield show them the reality of war.
CONTINUING THIS WEEK...
CAROLE KING HOME AGAIN — A brand new concert documentary presents musical icon Carole King’s triumphant 1973 homecoming concert in New York City’s Central Park before an estimated audience of 100,000. Directed by George Scott and produced by Lou Adler and John McDermott, the film presents the complete multi-camera filmed and recorded by Adler but never before released. Alongside the complete performance footage is the behind the scenes story of King’s remarkable transformation from a staff songwriter to an iconic artist in her own right, shortly after releasing her album Tapestry.
SALVATORE: SHOEMAKER OF DREAMS — Academy Award-nominated filmmaker LUCA GUADAGNINO (Call Me by Your Name) tracks Ferragamo’s life from humble beginnings to California and to a storied studio in Florence, Italy. From his humble beginnings in Naples, Ferragamo sailed to the United States in pursuit of the American dream. After settling in California, he quickly became the most famous shoemaker in Hollywood’s Silent Film era. With his established fame, Ferragamo returned to Italy and launched his luxury brand which became an international landmark in the world of fashion.
THE QUIET GIRL — A remarkable debut for writer-director Colm Bairéad, The Quiet Girl offers a deceptively simple reminder that the smallest stories can leave a large emotional impact. Set in Rural Ireland 1981, this film tells the story of a young girl, Cáit, who is sent away for the summer from her dysfunctional family to live with "her mother's people". These are Seán and Eibhlín Cinnsealach; a middle-aged couple she has never met. Slowly, in the care of this couple, Cáit blossoms and discovers a new way of living, but in this house where affection grows and there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers one. Nominated for Best International Feature Film.

LAST SHOWING
By Luca Guadagnino
Growing up poor in Bonito, Italy, Salvatore Ferragamo began his career as a shoemaker before he was barely a teenager. Immigrating to America in 1915 at the age of 16, his work would soon help invent the glamour of Hollywood’s silent era as he created shoes for iconic films including The Thief of Bagdad and The Ten Commandments and for stars including Gloria Swanson, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, many of whom became his friends. Overcoming a Depression-era setback, Ferragamo rebounded and would define mid-century elegance for performers including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, and Ingrid Bergman — all while embarking on a love story and warm family life with his wife, Wanda, and their six children.
With Emmy-nominated actor MICHAEL STUHLBARG (Call Me by Your Name, The Shape of Water) narrating Ferragamo’s 1955 memoir; a trove of 100-year-old archival footage; an extraordinary “shoe ballet” created by stop-motion artist PES; and incisive commentary by MARTIN SCORSESE, MANOLO BLAHNIK, CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN, Vogue Creative Director GRACE CODDINGTON, Variety Film Critic TODD MCCARTHY, WANDA FERRAGAMO and Wanda and Salvatore’s children and grandchildren.
SALVATORE: SHOEMAKER OF DREAMS is a portrait of a man whose vision, passion, and craftsmanship made him “shoemaker to the stars,” an architect of Hollywood magic, and an enduring cultural, fashion, and artistic influence.

Her Story Changed History
Directed by two-time Oscar® nominee Stephen Frears (The Queen, “A Very English Scandal”) and starring two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water, Spencer) as Langley, THE LOST KING is the inspiring true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and took on Britain’s most eminent historians, forcing them to rethink the legacy of one of the most controversial rulers in English history. A tale of discovery, obsession, and stolen glory (both then and now), THE LOST KING is a magical adventure illuminated by one woman’s awakened sense of purpose.
In the archaeological find of a century, the remains of King Richard III — presumed scattered over 500 years ago — were discovered under a parking lot in Leicester in 2012. The search was spearheaded by amateur historian Philippa Langley, whose passion and unrelenting research were met with skepticism by the academic establishment.
"A historical detective story that carries the kick of a true-life Da Vinci Code."
