Cookbook Throwdown
SATURDAY, JUNE 10 AT 11:30AM—12:30PM

The cookbook book club meets on the 2nd Saturday of every month and we share recipes from a cookbook from off our library shelves. June's pick is "Rodney Scott's World of BBQ." Just in time for the summer BBQ season. Try out some new faves. 

Sign up for a recipe in the library or online below and bring your dish to be sampled on Saturday, June 10th along with any utensils needed. The library will provide small plates, napkins, and the standard cutlery but if you are bringing a soup or other recipe that needs specialized cutlery please bring bowls or cups for everyone to use. I have picked some recipes to showcase but you can pick any recipe from the book. Please call Maddy Willwerth at 978-526-7711 or email [email protected]  if you have any questions.

Earn community service hours while having fun planning events and doing craft projects for your friends and the community! Registration required so we can make sure we have enough snacks.

Plant Swap
SATURDAY, JUNE 17 AT 10:30 AM—12:30PM

Have some spider plants that are ready to propagate? Buy an eight pack of flowers and only needed six? Did you, like me, start 6 tomato plants hoping only one would make it and now you have five extra? Why not swap the plants with your neighbors. Trade some spider plants for aloe or zucchini for tomatoes. Have nothing to trade? No problem, come by and take what looks good and check out some gardening books. 

Notice: These plants are from home gardens and may carry pests and disease that may not be healthy for your garden. Trade with caution and when you can, remove the soil from new plants and plant them as bare roots to limit the spread.

A Trip To Scotland - Finding the Underwater Gannet in the Shetland Islands 
TUESDAY, JUNE 20 AT 10:30—11:30AM

Follow Ken Carlson’s journey to the Shetland Islands in Scotland as he searched for a way to photograph the graceful Northern Gannet seabird diving underwater to fish. Not being a scuba diver made this a challenge, but Carlson finds a way after following up on a clue. Carlson is a nature, landscape and Fine Art photographer living in Harrington, Maine, after living and practicing veterinary medicine in Ipswich for 43 years. He is a presenter, judge, educator, and traveler. Carlson has traveled to more than 40 locations for his photography, including four trips to Scotland, of which two were to the Shetlands. About Alex: Alex Myers is a writer, teacher, and speaker. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Harvard University, studying Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Myers was the first openly transgender student at Harvard and worked to change the University’s nondiscrimination clause to include gender identity. After earning a master’s degree in religion at Brown, he has pursued a career in teaching English at secondary schools. He completed his Master’s of Fine Arts in fiction writing at Vermont College of Fine Arts, where he began his work on Revolutionary, which was published in 2014 by Simon & Schuster.
