The Aria That Took the World by Storm
Whether or not you know the name, you most certainly know the music. Puccini's aria "Nessun dorma" started as a standout moment in Turandot and became a worldwide phenomenon after Luciano Pavarotti's performance for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. The aria took the world by storm and has since been covered, reimagined and featured in a multitude of media ranging from film to Japanese animation. A powerful and heartfelt piece of music, it also helped cement Puccini's legacy both in the opera world and pop culture as a whole.

The Fantastical Sets of David Hockney
David Hockney is an iconic artist whose paintings frequently evoke Southern California, such as his Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures), which at one point held the record for the most expensive painting sold at auction. With such immense success in the art world, Hockney expanded to new avenues such as set design.These sets embody his vivid and imaginative style, making use of the skills he mastered as a painter to deliver inspired takes on classic operas.We've been lucky to have two of his sets previously grace our stage; Turandot will be the third.
