From: Los Angeles OperaYou're Invited to a Free Night of Opera
A new season means the return of a beloved community event: our annual simulcast. For those who don't know, the simulcast sees us present a live broadcast at two locations for free. This year, you're invited to Puccini's Madame Butterfly at Santa Monica Pier and Sylmar's El Cariso Community Park on Saturday, September 21. The show starts at 6 pm, but gates open earlier for picnicking and family-friendly activities. Click the link below to learn more and plan your trip for this amazing event.
Olympic Origins of LA Opera
The 2024 Summer Olympics are in full swing. The games always bring a swarm of visitors, and the influx often leads to some major changes for host cities. That was most certainly the case in Los Angeles when we last held the Olympics in 1984, as it led to the creation of LA Opera.
Forty years later and with another LA Olympics on the horizon, we thought it was a good time to revisit how our city went from having no permanent opera company to being one of the opera capitals of the world.
2024 Arts and Health Week Sponsors
On June 14, LA Opera Connects hosted the third annual Los Angeles County Arts and Health Week Summit. This summit was the culmination of a week-long celebration that saw various organizations host programs around Los Angeles that showcased the health benefits of the arts. This incredible program wouldn't be possible without our amazing participants and sponsors that helped put it all together. LA Opera by the Numbers
LA Opera wouldn’t exist without its supporters.
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we rely on donations from supporters like you.
In fact, ticket sales cover only about 40% of our budget, donors make it possible to present world-class opera in Los Angeles.
But how exactly are charitable dollars used?
