Caroline Shaw and trailblazing percussion ensemble S? Percussion come together for an evening blending classical, experimental, and rhythmic mastery. From haunting vocals to pulse-pounding percussion, expect boundary-pushing sounds inspired by James Joyce, ABBA, American roots music, and hymns.

Caroline Shaw & Kahane Hexagons (Philharmonic Society co-commission)

After more than a decade of musical friendship, composer-performers Caroline Shaw and Gabriel Kahane present their fi rst large-scale collaboration: a stunning song cycle inspired by the literary genius of Jorge Luis Borges' “The Library of Babel.”

Inspired by Borges' captivating and perplexing universe where the notion of infi nity collides with the fragility of human understanding, Shaw and Kahane invite audiences to contemplate the joy, grief, wonder, and bewilderment that spring from a life oversaturated in information.
