This class will provide students with individual guidance to strengthen their art practice and work towards an art portfolio that showcases their creativity and skills. In addition to exploring personal concepts, students will review technical portfolio requirements such as figure drawing and still life. In order to provide a range of perspectives and enrich group discussions, some sessions will be joined by guest artists and/or educators. By the end of the 6 weeks, students will walk away with not only a portfolio of artwork but with a better understanding of how to identify their strengths and artistic voices.
Students of all artistic journeys are welcome, regardless of whether they intend to apply for art programs with their portfolio.

Explore various ways of seeing-both perceptual and conceptual-as you play with abstraction, work in a series and incorporate scale and layering techniques.
Intro to Cyanotype Printing & Toning with Botanicals
4 Tuesdays: Oct 29 - Nov19 (6-9pm)
Instructor: Christine Huhn
Heinz Printmaking Studio
In this class, students will be given a brief introduction to the cyanotype printing process using both negatives and found objects. Historically, cyanotypes were toned with both harmful chemicals and environmentally safe botanicals including teas and herbs. These materials alter the typically known blueprints and allow for a wider range of colors. Students will experiment with different botanicals, papers, and textiles to create unique imagery.

This workshop will also introduce the basics of color mixing and color theory using screenprinting ink and transparent base. All are welcome!
