Save the date - Kala's art auction benefit opens Thurs, March 30 and closes Sat, May 13th!
Kala's annual auction benefit is our most important fundraiser of the year. This event brings the community together and raises vital funds to support Kala's artist residencies, arts education offerings, exhibitions and public programs. Jules Roman is the Art Kala 2023 honorary chair and we'll be honoring artists - Pantea Karimi, Gregory Rick and Jos Sances. This year we will open the auction exhibition with a fun, free preview party on Thursday, March 30, 6-9pm. We will wrap up the auction with a festive, ticketed closing party on Saturday, May 13, 6-9pm with a live auction and short program along with food, drink, and music.
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information!
Community Figure Drawing Session
Come draw with us in the Kala gallery space! We will have a model for the full 3 hours during which participants can practice their figure drawing at their own pace, work on incorporating a figure into an existing piece, or however they’d like to use their time! Kala staff members – who are also practicing artists – will facilitate the session and offer any desired feedback or support.
Please RSVP ahead of time for this session, as we have limited spots available. We look forward to offering this community drawing session on a monthly basis. Stay tuned!
Open to all ages 18 and above. For any questions, contact [email protected].
Kala Mask Policy Update
In alignment with Bay Area public health and local school guidelines, indoor masking at Kala San Pablo (Gallery, Classroom and Project Spaces) is now recommended but no longer required regardless of vaccination status for staff, program participants, and visitors. We encourage participants to make whatever masking decisions best suit themselves and their families and to respect the decisions of others.

Zine Workshop: Stories. Character. Action!
Saturdays, Feb 18 - March 4, 1pm-4pm
Instructor: Kristen Zimmerman
Location: Kala Gallery & Classroom
We all have stories to share. Some of them are stories we’ve lived. Some of them are stories we imagine. Some of them are just the things we need to tell our friends or say to the world. In this 3-part workshop, you will develop characters and bring them and our ideas to life through making zines. Materials will be provided AND please bring any materials that you are particularly excited about – whether that be a set of pens,
some cool paper, or materials for collage.
