The Ulrich Museum is proud to announce that our Exhibition Designer and Production Manager James Porter has been selected as a recipient of the President's Distinguished Service Award. He will accept this important honor at the Shocker Pride Celebration, starting at 9 a.m., Friday, May 3 at Woolsey Hall. You are welcome to join us at this celebration. Please RSVP above.

The President's Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize outstanding WSU employees. Each year the University Support Staff Senate, Faculty Senate, and Unclassified Professional Senate complete a call for nominations among their constituents. Members of each senate award committee select three individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the university community beyond their job descriptions.

James arrived at the Ulrich in 2011 from the Tacoma Art Museum, and has dedicated 13 years to masterfully installing exhibitions of all varieties in the Ulrich, and in offices and galleries across the campus at large. Born in Seattle, Wash., James earned his Bachelor's degree in fine arts and his Master's degree in Sculpture from Central Washington University. He is married to artist Denise DeBusk. They have a son, Hayden, and a daughter, Devon.
