Apply to Join Intersection's Group Site for SF Open Studios!
September 21 + 22, 2024
We are delighted to host SF Open Studios (SFOS) at Intersection for the Arts for the second year in a row! SFOS, a beloved annual tradition since 1975, is a citywide initiative for artists to promote their work and engage directly with residents, tourists, and fellow creatives. SFOS is an excellent opportunity for artists to sell work, promote their art practice, and network with visitors.
This year, Intersection for the Arts seeks artists to present their work at our space, during SFOS on September 21 & 22, 2024. This event is an incredible opportunity to sell work, promote your art practice, and network with visitors.
Why exhibit at Intersection for the Arts during SFOS? If you don't have a private studio or don't feel comfortable welcoming the public into your space, we provide a safe, highly-regarded venue to exhibit your work alongside other local artists. Intersection will not collect a commission on your sales.

Artists Supporting Artists: Get to Know Intersection
Interview with Sarah Chou, Intersection's Finance Support Assistant & Dancer
Meet our incredible Finance Support Assistant and Bay Area dancer, Sarah Chou! Our interview is excerpted below, be sure to read the full article on our blog to learn where she finds inspiration, the abundance she finds in the Bay Area art scene, and more.
How do you manage your personal art practice and professional life? Do you have any tips for artists in the Bay who also work 9-5?
It's all about embracing balance and giving yourself grace. It’s realizing that you go through phases where you could be extremely busy with work and art one month, and the next month, you just have your job to focus on. It’s unique for dancers because many projects happen during traditional working hours. You have to create the time for what you want to do. Sometimes, it's being in the studio on holidays or weekends, and most times, it's getting into class whenever you can to keep your technique up. I always have to remind myself that just because I am not dancing 9-5 doesn’t mean I am not growing as an artist. It also helps with burnout, and ultimately, I get to approach creation with a lot of clarity and perspective. It really has become a practice for me rather than just another job.
What is something interesting you've learned about the Bay Area art scene while working at Intersection? What inspires you about working at Intersection?
Abundance is the word I would use! There is always something happening, whether it’s performances, installations, festivals, etc. Being at Intersection reminds me that art has always been at the forefront of Bay Area culture as a means of protest, expression, exploration, community, and so much more.
I always feel inspired by my colleagues, not only in their work for Intersection but in how they approach and reflect on art. Our members and their innovation inspire me. Lastly, I’m inspired by Intersection’s decades-long commitment to artists and support for work that challenges and changes communities. I feel privileged to contribute to this history, one day at a time.
