Our current White House made historic strides in creating an economy that works for working people.
Chicago, IL - In response to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report showing that the economy added more than 256,000 new jobs in December, with the unemployment rate down to 4.1%, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez released the following statement:
“Friday, Democrats in the White House delivered yet another strong jobs report, as Americans saw their average hourly earnings increase yet again. Over the past four years, 16 million new jobs have been created and unemployment hit a 50-year low. In stark contrast, President-elect Donald Trump is threatening to raise costs on working Illinoisans, send jobs overseas, and unwind the economic progress of the Biden-Harris administration in order to gift tax handouts to the extremely-rich. In 2025 and beyond, Illinois Democrats will work on behalf of working Illinoisans to build on the hard-won progress of the Biden-Harris administration and fight tooth and nail against a Republican price-hiking agenda.”
