PIERRE SYLVAIN SOLO EXHIBIT

This is a Solo Art Exhibit for Pierre Sylvain, who is a mosaic, stained glass, sculptor and textile artist based in Middletown Connecticut. For the past few years he has been working with fiber material included rug hooking and needle felting creating different images with those techniques.

Pierre works with different mediums including paintings, tile, stained glass, textile, and found objects and has been recognized publicly for his advocacy and impact reflecting current social issues. Pierre is the Gallery Director and Curator for the Charter Oak Cultural Center, serving the mission of elevating the importance of art in healing society by providing access to highly skilled artists and students who may otherwise not have easy access and visibility in the greater community.

Pierre’s art wins awards and is most recognized for how the art makes people feel, and brings communities together. He was the recipient of the Middletown Art Advocacy Award.

His work are in private and public collections such as:

Experience the captivating fusion of comic, assemblage, and raw meat artistry at Hygienic Art!

Artists Tim Barber, Margaret Edmond and R. Douglass Rice form a unique group art exhibit showcasing their unique talents and mediums.

Tim Barber, is an independent comic book artist from Bozrah, CT, currently residing in Boston, MA. He's been entrenched in skateboarding and the culture surrounding it since early childhood, and still skates to this day. Tim's presently employed as a Visual Arts Teacher in Boston.

Margaret vonKleist Emond has been working for the last two decades on building a technique that combines painting and sculpture, that she sometimes refer to as “wall sculpture” and where EVERYTHING IS HAND MADE. Materials used: Acrylics, Canvas, Thin Plywood, Wire, Wire Mesh, Paper Mache, Foam Board, Balsa Wood. Margaret earned her BFA, Magna *** Laude from the Hartford Art School, and University of Hartford, CT. Additional Studies in figure drawing at the Art Students League, NYC, and at the Copley Art Society in Boston, and studied pastels and watercolors at the Cambridge Art League, Cambridge MA.

R. Douglass Rice BFA, is a prolific artist and sculptor who has shown at dozens of galleries in the Northeast. Since retiring, Rice cooks for the New London Community Meal center. He likes to see how the food he consumes and serves is made, visiting local farms, orchards, oyster and kelp farms, and even seeing how meat is processed. Rice's raw meat series is part of learning about where our food comes from and educating through art.
