Get ready for an electrifying show at this year's Harbor Illumination! Join us at 1:00 pm near Point Allerton Station as the Coast Guard dazzles with a thrilling Sea Rescue demonstration. Watch in awe as the helicopter hovers above, showcasing an incredible life-saving mission that you won't want to miss! After the demonstration, the helicopter will touch down at the Dust Bowl for everyone to get a closer look. This is one spectacle that promises thrills and chills!

Wander through our newest exhibit, Nantasket Beach Steamboat Line -when summer was everything, attend a lecture, walking tour or workshop, join our weekly meditation group, enroll your child or teen in our Summer Adventure or Summer Explorer programs, or check out our perennial gardens and bring along a picnic lunch.
Our rowing club, providing adults of all ages the opportunity to explore Boston Harbor from our Windmill Point Boathouse continues to be the hallmark of our on-the-water programming.

Discover the captivating history of steamer travel with the upcoming exhibit, "Nantasket Beach Steamship Company ~ when summer was everything" opening July 22 and extending through winter 2025. This exhibition promises to immerse visitors in the rich heritage of one of America's earliest steamboat enterprises.

Here we go! A fun-filled season has begun for our youth Summer Adventure program. Tide pool explorations, model boat building, shipwrecks and pirate outings abound.
Each week includes hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and a fun mix of history, science and arts. Pictured here is our ever-popular block and tackle that combines an opportunity to learn about simple machines while having fun lifting weights.
The Summer Adventure Program is set to launch on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. We are seeking donations of all kinds. Some items may already be in your recycling or donation bins! We appreciate all donations, big or small. Please see our wish list below,

Summer Explorers
Our New Program for Youth ages 12-16!

The museum's Summer Explorer Program is a new, exciting and engaging opportunity for young people ages 12-16 to learn about the natural and cultural history of Boston Harbor while developing maritime skills.
This 7-week program offers a different area of focus each week with all programming originating at our HLM Windmill Point Boathouse including our fleet of open water rowing vessels, the boathouse, the harbor and harbor islands. Areas of focus include safety on the water, rowing and commanding (coxing) open water rowing craft, operating outboard powered boats, harbor piloting and navigation, marine environment, boat maintenance and boat building, while making connections to each other, to our past, and to our future.
These programs begin July 9. There is still limited space available each week. Sign up now online to book a spot for any of the 7 program weeks.
Friday Morning En Plein Air

The longstanding tradition of Friday morning En Plein Air painting continues in collaboration with Hull Artists.
All artists are welcome to participate, from beginners to professionals, painting typically from 9am - noon. Please bring materials of your choice. A chair, hat, and water bottle are recommended.

Join us in welcoming Laura Ludwig, Manager of the Marine Debris and Plastics Program at the Center for Coastal Studies to learn about this important initiative. Commercial fishing for lobster, finfish and shellfish is a critical economic driver for coastal communities around the world and in the 21st century virtually all commercial fishing gear is made of plastic. The Center for Coastal Studies has been collaborating with fishermen from throughout New England to address the problem of lost, abandoned, and derelict fishing gear in the marine environment.

Save the date for FREE admission to the Hull Lifesaving Museum sponsored by Highland Street Foundation. August Adventures, inspired by Highland Street’s longstanding Free Fun Fridays initiative, will offer enriching experiences for individuals, children, and families statewide. From children’s museums to art, science, and history venues, there’s something for everyone.
Blake Jordan, Executive Director of Highland Street, commented, “As we mark our 35th anniversary, we are thrilled to collaborate with a diverse range of institutions that enhance the cultural tapestry of our state. Our collective aim is to broaden access and welcome a wide array of visitors during August Adventures.” This program spans Greater Boston to Cape Cod and across Central and Western Massachusetts.

Our Adult Rowing program is a fun, safe, and healthy way to experience and explore Boston Harbor.
