From: Creative 360Midland, MI - On Friday September 8th, Creative 360 opens Honoring the Process, an exhibition featuring visual artists Valerie Allen, Todd Burroughs, and Tim Ricketts. This exhibit, which is sponsored by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, will be the first in Creative 360’s new home at 5501 Jefferson Avenue and represents just one of the unique collaborations to come to the new space.
“This exhibition is part of our Celebration of Voices series, sponsored by the NEA,” said Creative 360 Program Director and Curator Colleen Reed. “Honoring the Process shares the passion and respect each of these artists have for their unique artistic practice.”
Valerie Allen, a certified artist for Golden Artist Colors, and co-creator and co-host of the Art Ladders: The Creative Climb podcast along with Armin Mersmann, will share her work in abstract painting. Todd Burroughs is the founding director of Atelier School of Art in Royal Oak, Michigan and will showcase a wide spectrum of drawing and painting methodologies, while Tim Ricketts, who works in ceramics, has created a unique form of Raku firing that emphasizes the body and the forms of the pieces.
While each artist has a distinctive style and process, their shared goals include embracing a wide spectrum of methodologies, encouraging the viewer to look at the entire piece, and cultivating communication between artists and audience.
All three artists are known as outstanding arts educators as well. Allen, who teaches across the country, will be offering a two-day immersive workshop, The Process Project, on the 15-16th of the month in the Creative 360 classrooms.
The exhibit opens with a reception on Friday, September 8, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at 5501 Jefferson Avenue. Admission to this event, and to the Creative 360 galleries, is always free and the non-profit appreciates donations that allow them to continue this tradition. The exhibit is on display through October 15, please call ahead or visit their website at becreative360.org for hours.
