August Book Club - "Once We Were Home," by Jennifer Rosner
The Holocaust didn’t end when the camps were liberated, of course, and for three Jewish children sent into the arms of Christian strangers for safekeeping, the devastation of their stolen childhoods continues to rage within them even once the war was over. Now they are free to search for home and family, but will they ever be able to determine where and to whom they truly belong?

Beach Party (Port Washington, L.I.) Fundraiser for HMTC Honoring Lizzy & Ira Savetsky
Hosted by HMTC Storyteller Dana Arschin, this event will honor Jewish activist Lizzy Savetsky and her husband Dr. Ira Savetsky (a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor). The Savetsky family will be in attendance and will make remarks. 100% of the proceeds will go towards Holocaust education. Dinner, drinks, dancing, and more!

A Charity Event: Chess in the Park Tournament on the Grounds of HMTC
CHESSanity is teaming up with the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) to launch a new initiative aimed at putting an end to hate and bigotry and promoting tolerance and respect for all people, regardless of their background or religion, as the way forward for future generations of humanity. We hope to inspire a new generation of leaders who are committed to creating a more just and equitable world.
As part of this partnership, CHESSanity has scheduled this event that promotes the values of tolerance and inclusivity, while also donating the proceeds to support HMTC's mission to educate the public about the Holocaust and its lessons for today.

Striding for Survivors - HMTC's First-Ever 5K Walk/Run/Wheel
Join HMTC at Welwyn Preserve for our first-ever 5K walk/run in recognition of all of the incredible survivors in our lives and in our hearts. Survivor Leo Ullman (a triathlete and Ironman competitor) will be the honoree for this year’s event. You can walk, jog, run — do it your way. All ages and abilities welcome, and strollers, too. Join us and show your support for our beloved survivors and HMTC’s mission to combat antisemitism and hate through Holocaust and tolerance education. Additional information to come.
