Featuring over 700 displays and two million lights, the Holiday Festival of Lights is a cherished holiday tradition for many families throughout Charleston and beyond. James Island County Park comes alive with illumination and is a great place to capture the magic of the holiday season. The Holiday Festival of Lights has been recognized around the country and the world. Coastal Living recognized it as "One of the Top 10 Holiday Celebrations," the American Bus Association ranked it as "One of the Top 100 Events in the Nation," and it was named one of the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast" by the Southeast Tourism Society.
November 8-9, 2023: Holiday Festival of Lights Fun Run and Walk
Join us for a two-mile non-competitive fun run and walk and special preview of the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park. After reaching the finish line, participants are invited to enjoy the shops and concessions
$35 per vehicle - maximum 15 people per standard-size vehicle. Guests must arrive together, as each vehicle must have a ticket for entry.
Know Before You Go.
Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, rollerblades, or scooters are not allowed.
Socialized dogs on short, non-retractable leashes are welcome.
Event Details
Event cancellation and refund policy.
The park will close to all traffic at 6:30 p.m.
All participants must be on the course by 6:45 p.m. and off the course by 8 p.m.
This is a rain or shine event.
Space is limited, and event is expected to sell out.
Registration closes when space is full.
Participants must have a ticket to enter the park.
Registered participants will receive a glow necklace.
Your ticket will be emailed to you. You will not receive a ticket in the mail.

The Lowcountry Power Brass band is an all brass band that plays Holiday music.
November 12,17,24,25 and 4,11,20 December 2023: Storytelling with Mrs. Claus
We couldn't pull the main man himself away from his other holiday duties, but his better half will be at the Holiday Festival of Lights for some storytelling time! Cozy up as you listen to the tales of chestnuts roasting and raindeers dashing.
November 13,14,15,20,21,22,27,28,29 and 4,5,6,11,12,13,18,19 November 2023: Dragon Boat the Holiday Festival of Lights
We've put together a terrific opportunity for you to see the Holiday Festival of Lights from a whole new perspective as the sun goes down and the lights come on for the evening. Team up with a pal - or forge new friendships - when you try your hand at dragon boating! Newbies and curiosity seekers will enjoy an on-the-water introduction to this ancient paddlesport while also getting an up close view of some of our most iconic light displays. With ten paddlers per boat, fun is guaranteed! After you paddle off into the sunset (well, just across the lake), we’ll treat you to a tasty hot chocolate and free admission to the Holiday Festival of Lights!

A lesser-known world opens up as the sun goes down and the moon comes up. Interact with one of our naturalists about owls, flying squirrels, deer and many more animals that thrive from dusk til dawn!
November 18, 2023 and December 5,10 2023: The Break Circuit at the Holiday Festival of Lights
The Break Circuit provides crowd interaction, choreographed dancing, and mind-blowing breakdance and gymnastic moves.
November 21, 2023 and December 13, 2023:Holiday Festival of Lights-The Charleston Caroling Company
The Charleston Caroling Company is a strolling acapella quartet, dressed in Victorian-era costumes, singing classic Christmas carols. It's the perfect way to embellish the holiday spirit!
November 30 and December 18, 2023: Holiday Festival of Lights-Lowcountry Power Brass Band
The Lowcountry Power Brass band is an all brass band that plays Holiday music.
