The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) Gets a Facelift as Part of its 30-Year Anniversary on Long Island

Glen Cove, NY - The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) has been dedicated to providing Holocaust and tolerance education to the Long Island community for the past 30 years. Our mission is more important now than ever before, and we are proud to have welcomed over half a million children through our doors. To mark this milestone anniversary, we are excited to announce that we will be sprucing up our facility.

“This renovation will help us continue to provide the best possible learning environment for our visitors and ensure that our exhibits and programs remain engaging and informative for years to come,” explains Dr. Bernie Furshpan, HMTC’s Marketing Director.  

Our exhibit galleries, library, classrooms, and Children's Memorial Garden, have always been a special place, but now they’re even more welcoming and vibrant. In fact, in the past two years, we completed the second phase of the Children’s Garden Renovation: the amphitheater and shade canopy, at a cost of $200,000. The facade of our building is a testament to the transformative power of color. With a fresh coat of paint in beautiful hues of blue, gold, and white, our museum's front entrance is sure to catch your eye. In addition, we've added a new sign on the building to clarify our visitor hours and vital information needed to visit our center. Plus, we've added photos of children of the Holocaust to greet their peers as they come off the school buses. Our goal is to provide a space that not only educates but also inspires hope and tolerance.

Our exhibits are designed to create an immersive experience that will transport you back to the Holocaust era and other genocides. You will learn about the struggles and triumphs of the people who lived through this traumatic period in history.
