HA DONOR SPOTLIGHT
During summers in my college years when my father thought I was not adequately employed, he would draft me as his driver. One summer stands out. He was negotiating an interest in an Annapolis restaurant. He saw no need to invite me to his meetings. He left me to my wiles.
So I wandered about, admiring the Colonial architecture. I walked the streets. The quaint, well-kept houses fascinated me. Charm instilled by history mesmerized me. I tried to imagine life in a home built by shopkeepers and now inhabited by professionals happily ensconced in an historic dwelling. Life seemed idyllic to this wayward college student.
Over the course of 57 years, my warm feelings about Annapolis have become even more intense. Annapolis, with its narrow streets, inviting front entrances and friendly folk, is aesthetically pleasing on a human scale. Even larger structures like the State House or the Paca House or the Brice House are welcoming and winsome.
Now that I am driving my own life, it gives me tremendous pride to donate to Historic Annapolis to retain and embellish a neighborhood, a community, a culture that provides a special warmth amid an invaluable heritage. Just as it has been for 71 years, that is HA’s mission.
Please join me in support of HA’s mission and become one of 25 new members TODAY! Already an HA member? It’s not too late to renew your membership or make an additional gift before June 30th. However you choose to give makes a difference!
Thank you, in advance, for your heartfelt gift that will ensure future generations, like my children and grandchildren, grow up proud to call Annapolis and Maryland home.
