Pruning Hydrangeas: Steps 2 and 3 Detail and Pinch Pruning

Saturday, May 3

10 am-12 pm OR 1-3 pm

Heritage’s Curator of Hydrangeas, Mal Condon, has over many years developed the seasonal step approach to more effectively prune our beloved hydrangeas. This program is the follow-up to Mal’s Step 1 Regenerative Pruning program in March and illustrates a logical progression in hydrangea pruning. This program demonstrates the continuing application of practicing specific pruning steps during specific times of the year to optimize plant form and bloom density.

Check out this program and other Mal Condon programs here.

Hiring: PreK Lead Teacher & Support Teacher

The PreK Teachers play a pivotal role in fostering a love of school and learning while balancing the developmental needs and growth of young learners. At our school, we embrace a holistic approach to education, seamlessly intertwining academic rigor with play, hands-on learning, and inquiry-driven experiences that unfold both within the classroom and outdoors throughout the gardens and grounds. We're Almost There!

We’re in the final stretch! With the $60,000 TernSOLAR Challenge Grant from the Tern Foundation, we’ve come so far in bringing rooftop solar panels to the new net-zero Barbey Family Welcome Center—advancing Heritage’s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy education.

Now, this is our final chance to meet the match. We’re so close to reaching our $60,000 goal—and every gift made today will be doubled, thanks to the challenge grant. Your support at this critical moment will make an even greater impact.

Let’s finish strong. With your help, we can power a more sustainable Heritage and create an inspiring experience for all who visit. Be part of this transformative moment—make your gift today.
