We here at GreenStage are getting through the cold darkness of winter by dreaming about the warm merriment of Shakespeare in the Park. It's our 35th anniversary season this summer! Can you believe it's been that long? All the way back in 1989 we did our first park show with a production of Taming of the Shrew. Every year since then we've been bringing accessible and FREE Shakespeare in the Park to the greater Seattle area and having a blast doing it.
This summer we will be bringing love, betrayal, romance, treachery, blood feuds, mistaken identity and a whole lot of sword fighting to the parks! On the mainstage tour we will be presenting Romeo & Juliet directed by Luke Sayler as well as the beginning of Shakespeare's War of the Roses saga with Henry VI Part One directed by Zanne Gerrard. Backyard Bard will be touring abbreviated productions of hilarious fan favorite Comedy of Errors and the spellbinding fairy tale Cymbeline, both directed by Artistic Director Erin Day. Performances will run from July 7 - August 12. The Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival will also be back the weekend of July 7. More detailed information about that and our 35th anniversary season will be coming soon.
Of course, in order to produce our FREE Shakespeare in the Park program this summer we could still use some financial support. If you are able, please consider paying it forward so we can all see each other again in person, on the grass, under the sun with the Bard's words.
