Governor Murphy Directs U.S. and New Jersey Flags to Full-Staff on Presidential Inauguration Day Following Proclamation by President Trump

TRENTON, NJ– Governor Phil Murphy on Jan 20th, signed Executive Order No. 379, ordering U.S. and New Jersey flags to be raised to full-staff for the remainder of January 20, 2025 following the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump. Upon taking the oath of office, President Trump issued a Proclamation directing the U.S. flag to be raised to full-staff for the remainder of Inauguration Day.

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 373 ordering flags lowered on December 31, 2024, consistent with a Proclamation from President Joe Biden in recognition and mourning of former President James “Jimmy” Earl Carter, Jr. President Jimmy Carter passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100.

On January 21, 2025, flags will be lowered again and flown at half-staff until sunset on January 28, 2025, consistent with the Proclamation issued by President Biden and Executive Order No. 373.
