From: Maryland Governor Wes MooreANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Wes Moore today congratulated Avail Enclosure Systems, a manufacturer of prefabricated buildings used to house electrical equipment and critical infrastructure, on expanding its operations on the Eastern Shore. The company-currently located on Millington Road in Queen Anne’s County, where it employs 117 workers-is leasing an additional 12,000 square-foot facility three miles away in Kent County, creating 45 full-time jobs at the new facility over the next two years.
“We are proud to support Avail Enclosure Systems’ growth in Maryland,” said Gov. Moore. “Avail helps secure power distribution centers and data centers that keep critical systems operating safely. With this expansion, Avail can continue providing critical protection for businesses and residents throughout the country.”
Avail Enclosure Systems is part of Avail Infrastructure Solutions, the global provider of application-critical electrical equipment, integrated solutions, highly engineered technologies, and specialized services to the power utility, data center, oil and gas, and industrial markets. From fully integrated electrical enclosures and custom switchgear to high voltage bus systems, the company’s proven solutions meet the most exacting requirements for safe, reliable operations.
“Avail is extremely excited to continue our expansion in Maryland, extending our growth to Kent County,” said Avail Enclosure Systems Vice President and General Manager Tom Atkinson. “On behalf of our entire team, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the state and county for their support. This will enable us to expand our operations and continue making a positive impact in our community. We are excited about the opportunities this funding brings and we are committed to using it to further our mission of growth, innovation, and service.”
Avail’s facility in Millington was formerly known as Power Electronics Inc. After acquiring Power Electronics in 2016, Avail grew its custom electrical enclosures division, which led to the formation of Avail Enclosure Systems on the Eastern Shore.
“Avail’s plans to expand and add 45 new jobs in Kent County is great news for our business community and will offer new opportunities on the Eastern Shore,” said Maryland Department of Commerce Acting Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. “These efforts further demonstrate our commitment to growing Maryland’s economy in every region of the state. We look forward to working with the company as well as our partners in Kent County to ensure Avail continues to grow and thrive with its new facility.”
To assist with project costs, the Maryland Department of Commerce is working to approve a $200,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland. Additionally, Kent County is providing a $20,000 conditional loan to support the company’s expansion in Millington. The company is also eligible for other state and local tax credits.
“The County Commissioners are thrilled that Avail has chosen Kent County for its expansion, creating 45 new jobs in our community,” said Kent County Commissioners President Ron Fithian. “Avail’s success and growth have been pivotal to our region, meeting the rising demand for critical infrastructure products driven by the rapid expansion of digital technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the growing reliance on internet services. Partnerships between the public and private sectors are key to fostering economic growth.”
