Request for Proposals: Pop-up Public Art Installation at Discovery Green®
Discovery Green Conservancy seeks proposals for a temporary outdoor art installation that will captivate and resonate with the park’s diverse audiences. Artists are invited to propose projects that inspire exploration, magic, and joy in this vibrant urban park – one of Houston’s most beloved public spaces hosting up to two million visitors annually. Artists or artist teams with experience in outdoor public art are encouraged to apply.

Matrescence explores the ambivalence of motherhood — from the overwhelming emotional highs to the psychological struggles that accompany bringing new life into the world. Funhouse at the Old Jail Art Center
Funhouse, curated from the museum’s permanent collection, celebrates the use of humor or levity in art — a much-needed diversion in our lives. Through humor, artists provide a comfortable entry point for ideas, perspectives, and topics that we typically avoid or may never consider. In other cases, works are nonsensical, much like our “normal” realities or unexpected events can be.

OPENING SOON: 59th Annual CAIN National Show
The CAIN National Show is an open-theme, all -media annual exhibition of contemporary artists across the country. The 59th edition was curated by Alejandro Macias, a Texas-born artist who chose artwork that explores family, place, identity, cultural empowerment, and sociopolitical concerns affecting our country today.
The show’s Opening Reception is Friday, February 21, 6-8 p.m. in Cain Gallery on Del Mar College Heritage Campus. There will be a cash bar and complimentary catered food.

Alexander Barrón: Love Letter at Daphne Art Foundation
Barrón’s new series of oil paintings, which he affectionately calls Love Letter, capture bonding moments of his personal upbringing. The paintings depict shared family experiences like birthday parties, carnes asadas, afternoon chats on the curb, and laughter at a dinner table. The work also captures defining moments of friendships that tell stories of growing affection, curiosity, and the artist’s personal journey of self-growth.
