The benefits of music education are many. Through music, children develop their intellectual capabilities, learn to work in harmony as a group and to present themselves with confidence to others. Students of music think more creatively, have better mental health, and display increased levels of resilience and self-discipline. Their cultural horizons are broadened and their sense of potential futures expands.

The GSO is committed to music education.
- Through GYSO we offer comprehensive access to the youth symphony to all aspiring participants, irrespective of financial barriers.
- Through our Family Concerts we introduce young children to the orchestra in a fun and age appropriate manner.
- Through our partnerships with local schools, we support local educators and offer student enrichment through clinics, master classes and after school programs.

As school arts budgets shrink, we aspire to amplify our impact in the lives of children.
