From: Big Fresno FairFresno, CA - The gates have closed on another Big Fresno Fair, the largest annual event in the Central Valley. This year’s 13-day event welcomed people from throughout the Valley and beyond, featured hundreds of vendors and exhibitors, plus a variety of attractions and entertainment! The following information has been prepared as of today, and includes a snapshot of interesting, fun and unique facts and statistics from the 2024 Big Fresno Fair.
Big Fresno Fair Social Media
- 28,374,201: The total reach from the Fair's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts during the 13 days of the 2024 Big Fresno Fair.
- The Big Fresno Fair has 95,817 fans on Facebook
- The Big Fresno Fair has 11,501 followers on Twitter
- The Big Fresno Fair has 47,379 followers on Instagram
- The Big Fresno Fair has 1,587 followers on TikTok
- The Big Fresno Fair has 1,495 followers on Snapchat
Free Entertainment
- 13,260 minutes of free and entertaining strolling grounds acts to enjoy!
- 26,052 minutes of free entertainment on the five community stages!
- 17,730 minutes of free entertainment in the NEW Aqua Pals Town, Alaskan Pig Races, Miners Town with the gold panning and NEW leather working station, and Chef Ray’s produce carving.
- The new Off-Axis Stunt Show did over 150 stunts per show with 3 shows happening per day. That’s a total of 5,850 total stunts during the 13-days of the Fair!
- Pop! Culture Experience featuring a variety of free gaming consoles, virtual reality station, S.T.E.A.M. learning exhibits, a Lego build station and so much more! Nearly 100,000 people passed through this building to enjoy all that it had to offer!
Livestock Pavilion
- 3,922 animals were exhibited at The Big Fresno Fair.
- 3,000 4-H and FFA students exhibited animals at the Fair.
- 1,300 animals were put up for auction at the three livestock sales (Phase One and Two of the Jr. Livestock Auction, and the online Dairy Replacement Heifer Sale) (10/5 & 10/12), raising more than $1.19 million with add-ons still coming in.
-- NOTE: Due to Avian Influenza in the Central Valley, there were 40 Dairy Replacement Heifers that did not go through the sale, but the public can still support them with add-on bids. Just email the Livestock Department at [email protected].
- 200 animals and 4-H/FFA students won Champion Awards.
- Had 14 ewes give birth to 32 lambs during the run of the Fair!
Livin’ Local Marketplace
In its 4th year, the Livin’ Local Marketplace featured 36 local small businesses with 15 new vendors and had $130,000 in sales! It was great to showcase these businesses at our Fair and provide such a great financial impact to our small business owners!
The Fair Education Program
This amazing program provides a FREE educational field trip to the Fair for Fresno County elementary students through 8th grade students. They toured the entire Fairgrounds, visiting each exhibit building to learn about agriculture, livestock and what makes Fresno County and The Big Fresno Fair so unique.
- A total of 20,054 students, teachers and chaperones attended during the four Fair Education Program days.
14th Annual “Pint for a Pass” Blood Drive
- The 14th Annual “Pint for a Pass” Blood Drive held in partnership with the Central California Blood Center took place from August 27 – October 14, and saw 9,655 people show up to donate with 7,040 successful whole blood donations! These donations can save up to 21,120 lives! Last year, there was 6,466 successful whole blood donations – so a great increase to help save lives this year!
Fine Arts & Photography
- Had 647 Photo entries and 399 Fine Arts entries!
- Nearly 132 students from 10 different schools participated in this year’s High School Chalk Art Competition sponsored by Allard’s.
Home Arts
- Had a record number of entries with 4,400 different entries submitted!
- 22 entries in the Arlene B. Owen Legacy Pie Contest
- 20 entries were received in the Save Mart Sugar Contest, which was the highest numbers of entries ever received for this contest!
- 29 entries in the Sun-Maid Snackable Contest
- 23 entries were received in the Made With Butter – Butter Cake Contest
- Handed out a total of 75 awards!
- 11 awards were given out in the High School Art Competition by the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools.
- Allard’s Art gave 38 High School Art awards, which will then be displayed at Allard’s Art.
Agriculture Building
- There were 6,500 entries in the Agriculture building!
- 13 judges were utilized to judge all of the produce this year!
- Chef Ray carved 500 lbs. of produce!
- There were 178 different variety of grapes judged.
- It took 135 volunteers 4 hours to change out the produce for the 2nd week of the Far!
- 40,000 bees were displayed as part of the Central Valley Beekeepers.
Floriculture (The Greenhouse)
- Had 38 different classes and more than 56 different varieties of plants entered!
- The Senior Floriculture entries had over 2,000 plants, succulents, orchids, cactus and fresh cut flowered entered.
- 12 FFA and independent school groups submitted 1,000 entries in plants and over 100 in fresh, dry and silk arrangements.
- 15 Sweepstakes winners and 35 Best of Show Division awards were handed out.
- The American Orchid Society (AOS) had awarded 19 orchid winners at the Fair since 1995; the Fair received its 13th AOS award at this year’s Fair!
Fresno Animal Center
- Had a total of 25 adoptions: 9 cats and 16 dogs
Central California SPCA
- Had a total of 18 adoptions: 1 cat and 17 dogs
Chicken Charlie’s
- Used 811 Oreo cookies
- Sold 800 deep-fried frog legs
- Sold more than 300 of the new Hot Honey Funnel Cake Chicken Sandwich
- Sold 304 of the new Dr. Pepper Pickle Drink
- Sold 4,000 deep-fried chicken drumsticks
- Best part is – after the Fair, Chicken Charlie’s donated all leftover product to the Poverello House to feed our community. This is the 7th year they’ve been doing this!
Fruit Caboose
- Used over 6-8 boxes of bananas and over 1,000 ice cream cones!
Fabulous Fanny’s Funnel Cakes
- Used 1,600 lbs. of fresh strawberries during this year’s Fair!
- Top selling funnel cakes were:
-- #1 Strawberry
-- #2 Banana Split
-- #3 Original Powdered
Country Fair Cinnamon Rolls (all three stands)
- 32,000 lbs. of flour were used
- 12,000 lbs. of cinnamon and sugar were used
- 4,400 lbs. of cream cheese were used
- 3,000 lbs. of butter were used
- 4,000 Cinnamon Maple Bacon Bombs were sold
- 2,100lbs. of walnuts were used
- 350 lbs. of coffee were used
- Marked 46 years of operation for this local, family-owned and operated business!
Fry Burger
- 500 Double Fried Burgers were sold
The Korean Shack – NEW VENDOR
- 10,000 Corndogs were sold
- 4,000 Flamin’ Korean Corndogs were sold
- 500 Bags of Hot Cheetos were used to make the Flamin’ Korean Corndogs
Fabe’s Gelato
- 3,000 milkshakes were sold
- 4,000 cups or cones of gelato were sold
Sharky’s Fish & Chips
- Lobster fries/fried pickles: 2-3 buckets per day!
- Lobster Fries: 9 boxes per day
