From: Florida Governor Ron DeSantisFloridians,
Early this week, the Florida Cabinet convened to recognize brave individuals from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), who had been awarded special honors in 2021. I am always proud to be able to honor the heroes that serve our State faithfully. Here in Florida, we are thankful to all those in the law enforcement community who protect and serve our fellow Floridians 24/7, 365 a year.
Additionally at the Cabinet meeting, I was honored to present Sergeant David "Shack" Cox of the Florida Highway Patrol with a Resolution honoring his service and recognizing him as the 2021 Trooper of the Year. Sergeant Cox stands as a perfect representation of Law Enforcement, displaying service and sacrifice to the state and community. Congratulations to Sergeant Cox on this tremendous achievement and thank you to our dedicated troopers statewide for their service to our great state.
Lastly, I issued a proclamation recognizing the week of January 16, 2023 - January 20, 2023, as Florida Thrift Week. Fiscal responsibility is essential when owning a home, raising a family, or running a business, and thrift is a great way to promote wise money making and spending habits. It also honors the American tradition passed down through generations, celebrating the spirit of capitalism. I encourage all Floridians around the state to learn more about the practice of thrift.
