When Mei Lin, an ambitious kitchen-maid, hears that the Emperor of China is searching for the Nightingale, the bird whose song brings hope to the people of the land, she offers to help find and capture the bird in exchange for a lofty promotion. This transaction has tragic consequences, however, as Mei Lin soon learns that the Emperor is a foolish ruler who cannot see beyond the bird’s plain outer appearance. Song of the Nightingale is a magical, musical romp that reminds us that true beauty and worth is always found within.

11th Annual Fresh Works Juried Exhibition
April 1 through June 10, 2023

The Harrington Gallery is excited to welcome back the 11th edition of our annual Fresh Works juried exhibition. Featuring an array of mediums, the exhibit features 72 exemplary works of oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and more which were chosen by our judge, Ashley L. Voss of Voss Gallery. This exhibition will be on view until Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Susan McAllister - Solo Exhibition at the Firehouse Arts Center Lobby
April 15 – May 27, 2023

The Firehouse Arts Center is excited to present the solo exhibition of Susan McAllister. A Berkeley-based artist and teacher, Susan presents 19 works of watercolor, colored pencil, and pastel. Come meet Susan on Saturday, April 29th from 1-3pm during her live demo and learn more about her creative process.

Claudette McDermott on the PAL Wall (2F)

Working primarily in the medium of encaustic hot wax, Claudette's solo exhibition showcases a selection of representative work using a technique called “shellac burn.” A selection of the artist’s resin pieces are also on display upstairs at the Firehouse Arts Center.

Harrington Galley curator Sydney Tang and art instructor Debbie Wardrope are teaming up to bring back Young@Art ! Sydney will lead the kids on a tour of the current gallery exhibition, and then they will join Debbie to create some fun art projects inspired by the work they viewed. This class will be based on the 11th Annual Fresh Works Juried Exhibition currently on display. Another Y@A session on August 3, 2023 is also available for registration through the link below.

Everyone (best for ages 14-Adult) is invited to have a conversation with the Recreation Supervisor Mark Duncanson as he ignites conversations with one prompt centered around arts and entertainment. These free events are designed as a dialogue and education in The City of Pleasanton’s Civic Arts Division that includes the recreation programs, events, facilities, and operations of the Firehouse Arts Center and Amador Theaters. Participants are encouraged to dive deep into the theme of each session and come with their questions.
