Arts and Entertainment

May 14, 2025

Express Yourself Studios, a mobile and digital creative arts provider led by artist and educator Simone Anthony-Brown, is proud to announce the launch of its latest fine art collection and a successful season of creative community engagement.

This month, the studio unveiled Blooming Essence, a vibrant series of floral silhouette prints that explore the strength, beauty, and renewal of Black women. Created from a single painting born during a virtual session and repurposed from recycled artwork, each Giclée print is available in two sizes (11” x 14” and 16” x 20”), matted and ready to frame. The collection is now available through the studio’s online shop.

“Our goal with Blooming Essence was to honor transformation—both in materials and in spirit,” says Anthony-Brown. “Each piece carries a story of process and reclamation, which is what makes this series so personal and powerful.”

In addition to new artwork, Express Yourself Studios has been actively engaging the community through local workshops and fundraising events. On May 6, the studio facilitated a Paint & Sip Wine Glass Painting Fundraiser at Brandywine Living Summit, raising funds for Every Mother Counts a meaningful cause through a shared artistic experience. The following evening, the studio partnered with The Wine Barrel and the Maplewood/South Orange Adult School to host a Wine Tasting & Sip and Sculpt Workshop, bringing together community members for an evening of wine, sculpting, and connection.

“Our events this spring have been more than creative sessions—they’ve been opportunities to build relationships, celebrate wellness, and support causes that matter,” said Anthony-Brown.

Express Yourself Studios is also proud to announce the inclusion of Anthony-Brown’s collage, Not a Threat I, in the 33rd Annual Signature Exhibit, Another Slice of Sweet Potato Pie, curated by Onnie Strother and presented by Art in the Atrium. The exhibit runs May 16 – September 19, 2025 at the Atrium Gallery in Morristown, NJ, and showcases the work of more than 70 Black, Afro-Caribbean, and Afro-Latino artists in tribute to the late artist Russell A. Murray.

Looking ahead, the studio will facilitate several public art workshops, including:

Youth Juneteenth Tote Bag Painting Project at the Livingston Public Library on June 18 at 4:00 PM

Pottery Workshop at the Verona Public Library on July 15 at 6:30 PM

Youth Pottery Workshop at the Union Public Library (Main Library) on July 29 at 6:00 PM

The studio continues to offer its popular 4th Sunday Virtual Painting Sessions, corporate team-building experiences, private virtual events, and mobile art birthday parties for families in Essex, Morris, and Union counties.

Community organizations, schools, and businesses interested in partnering with Express Yourself Studios are encouraged to reach out to propose custom collaborations.

“We’re always looking for meaningful ways to bring people together through art,” said Anthony-Brown. “If you have an idea for a workshop or event, we’d love to hear from you.”
