This spring at the Jewish Museum, see two exciting special exhibitions, both open in March. Now on view, The Sassoons exhibition reveals the fascinating story of a remarkable Jewish family through over 120 works collected over four generations.
Opening March 24, see a selection of works by 47 intergenerational and internationally-based artists made between 1963 – 2023 in the upcoming exhibition After “The Wild”: Contemporary Art from The Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation Collection.

Read about Marc Chagall’s painting Le Père (1911), a rare portrait of the artist's father which was recently restituted to the descendants of its original owner, in a new story on the Museum's Medium blog. See the work in person, currently on view in Scenes from the Collection, as a special loan to the Jewish Museum through January 1, 2024.

Join us for a special afternoon of storytelling with Victor Levenstein and his son artist Matvey Levenstein. Victor Levenstein is the author of Thirteen Nasty Little Snakes: The Case of Stalin's Assassins detailing his arrest and time as a political prisoner in the Soviet Union.

Conversation with Christopher Rothko and Kate Rothko Prizel

Join us for a discussion with Christopher Rothko and Kate Rothko Prizel, moderated by Jewish Museum Curator Stephen Brown on the occasion of the publication of a landmark monograph that allows all aspects of their father Mark Rothko’s career to be heard in full voice, featuring beloved works from major collections as well as never-before-seen canvases and paintings on paper.
