A Celebration of Ellsworth Kelly's Centennial
Ellsworth Kelly was born 100 years ago today. To celebrate the centenary of his birth, museums around the world are mounting a series of exhibitions that consider the full breadth of his groundbreaking career.
The Museum of Modern Art in New York has installed Kelly’s rarely seen Sculpture for a Large Wall (1957), along with a selection of paintings and sketchbooks from the museum's collection. Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Maryland, is presenting a major retrospective survey of Kelly's paintings, sculpture, drawings, and photographs, which will travel internationally, and in New York, the newly reopened Lever House on Park Avenue is exhibiting a group of his indoor and outdoor sculptures.
