A labyrinth is a winding path or journey, a portal into mystery, a quiet meditation, a joyful celebration—a labyrinth is all of these things and more! The public is invited to explore an 80-foot-long Humpback Whale Labyrinth etched in the sand. Labyrinth artist, Shannon Hays-Truex, designs labyrinths that reflect aspects of Nature and sacred geometry, including representations of plants and animals. Since 2015, Shannon has created hundreds of designs and made more than 40 labyrinths as public art for special gatherings, education programs, and festivals.

Assemblage Workshop
10:00 am – 1:00 Pm House of Orange Gallery
This private event will take place at House of Orange gallery, Sat September 21, 10 AM to 1 PM in celebration of the Earth and Ocean Arts Festival. Proceeds benefit the environmental nonprofits supported by the festival. Engage in a creative endeavor with artist Dianne Aoki, crafting your own assemblage artwork. Utilize ordinary objects some found and others repurposed to compose artistic expressions, allowing your imagination to guide the process. Dianne will bring her studio collection of repurposed objects, art supplies, and items found in nature. Participants are welcome to bring their own found objects to incorporate into their art.
Participants will begin by learning a little about the history of assemblage, and exploring elements of design with Dianne. You’ll consider what appeals to you and the feelings and messages you’ll convey in your artwork. Finally, collected found items and collage materials are attached to a framed surface in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Participants may indulge in the rich flavors of freshly brewed coffee and scrumptious baked goods provided by Elk Creek Coffee, a beloved local establishment while creating meaningful works of art.
Tickets $140 purchased through House of Orange
