Spokane, WA - Explore the chilling world of science and creation with Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature, a remarkable traveling exhibition from the National Library of Medicine, on display at Central Library from October 7 to November 16. This fascinating exhibit investigates the profound themes of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, a novel that continues to resonate more than 200 years after its publication.
Exhibition Highlights:
- Learn about Frankenstein, peruse local curiosities from Petunia and Loomis, and view materials from the library’s archive.
- Visitors can learn how the novel posed profound questions about individual and societal responsibility for others. Mary Shelley used the scientific advances of her era as a metaphor for issues of unchecked power and self-serving ambition, and their effect on the human community.
Learn more about Mary Shelley at Central Library on Oct. 16 at 6pm! Who was this young writer, and where did she-and her stunningly impactful and enduring horror story-come from?
