The Denver Art Museum (DAM) is excited to announce the fourth annual collaboration with Denver Public Schools (DPS) for the DPS City-Wide Elementary Art Showcase, in the museum’s Wonderscape Spotlight space, located in the lower level of the Martin building.

Continuing the DAM’s mission of being a platform for all, over 300 artworks will be on view from DPS elementary school students with participants representing early childhood to fifth grade. Thirty-five schools featuring over 300 students provide the focus for this youth showcase program, which was started four years ago with the goal to showcase youth artists and engage the local school community.

“We’re so excited to bring back the DPS Youth Showcase which honors and encourages the inner creative within the smallest and youngest artists of our community," said Paulina DaMommio, Manager of Youth Programs at the Denver Art Museum. “It’s important for kids to learn how to express themselves and see how art can be a vehicle for that expression. The best part is that these artists get to see their work showcased here at a world class art museum which of course contributes to building confidence in themselves. The showcase also honors the educators who are instrumental in helping students develop their artistic personalities.”

The artworks are mostly teacher-guided projects that are submitted to be a part of the showcase. The DPS showcase also honors the educators who encourage and help develop the student’s artistic personalities that create the work on display. It’s a celebration of children, educators, and creativity. The DPS Youth Showcase, along with Indomitably Indigenous and the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, is part of the work at the DAM where the museum provides a platform for community members to showcase their talents - underscoring the message that everyone is an artist.
