From: Actors Co-op Theatre CompanyWEST HOLLYWOOD, CA -- P3 Theatre Company will present Day After Day (The Life and Music of Doris Day) by Tony Santamauro for a limited engagement at The Actors Company Let Live Theatre on April 5–6. The musical, which premiered to critical acclaim in Long Beach in 2020, celebrates the life and legacy of one of Hollywood's most beloved stars.
A nostalgic journey through the life and music of an Icon, Day After Day is a family-friendly production that takes audiences on an intimate journey through the life of Hollywood icon Doris Day from age 16 to her 40s. Best known for her radiant screen presence and timeless songs, the show reveals the woman behind the golden voice by blending her greatest hits—including Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, Sentimental Journey, Secret Love, and Que Sera Sera—audiences will gain a deeper understanding of Day’s personal triumphs and challenges as she navigated her way to becoming a Hollywood icon.
Deborah Robin, who earned the Orange County Theatre Guild Award for Best Performance in a Musical for her portrayal of Doris Day, will reprise her role in this revival. Christopher Showerman joins her as “The Fan,” narrating the story with energy and heartfelt emotion. The production is directed by creator Tony Santamauro and Christy Mauro-Cohen, Artistic Director of P3 Theatre Company, with musical direction by David Cohen.
The production was originally staged at the Ernest Borgnine Theatre in 2020. “This production is a love letter to Doris Day and a celebration of the joy she brought to so many,” said Mauro-Cohen. “We are excited to share her story and music with audiences once again.”
Reflecting on the revival, creator Santamauro remarked, “After my daughter played Doris Day for nearly 20 years, I thought I’d never find another actress who could truly embody her. But the moment Deborah walked into the audition room, I knew she was the one.”
Whether you are a longtime admirer of Doris Day or discovering her music for the first time, Day After Day promises a nostalgic and unforgettable experience filled with iconic melodies and heartfelt storytelling.
