From: David Zwirner GalleryNow Arriving: Yayoi Kusama’s Grand Central Madison Mosaic
MTA Arts & Design has unveiled a spectacular new artwork by Yayoi Kusama commissioned for the Long Island Rail Road’s new Grand Central Madison terminal in New York.
Expanding upon Kusama’s iconic My Eternal Soul series, the 120-foot-long glass mosaic artwork, titled A Message of Love, Directly from My Heart unto the Universe (2022), explores boldly colored lines and forms, and conveys messages central to Kusama’s oeuvre. The artist told The New York Times that the train station venue inspired her to depict many different characters coming and going, adding, “It could be you, it could be me.”
