From: Darien LibraryTeen Lounge Back to School Party!
September 5th through September 7th from 3-5 p.m.
Calling all 6th – 12th graders! Are you new to the area or new to middle school? Or do you just want to hang out and see what the Teen Lounge is all about? Then register for one or more of our welcome parties! We'll have tabletop and video games, crafts, snacks, and more. Our dedicated Teen Services Staff will be on-hand to answer questions, make book recommendations, and share upcoming Teen programs.

Cute and Cuddly Creatures
Friday, September 8th at 3 p.m.
In collaboration with the Darien Nature Center, we will be bringing cute animals to Darien Library for teens to de-stress at the beginning of the school year! Come hang out with ferrets, chinchillas, rabbits, sugar gliders, and more! Take some selfies and enjoy your Friday with adorable animals!

Adulting 101: Personal Finances
Wednesday, September 13th at 5 p.m.
In this workshop you will gain knowledge about mastering your money. The focus topics will be cash flow, such as budgeting, and savings. There will also be an activity aligned to the topics to show how to use the skills taught right after the session. Hosted by Patrina Dixon, a Certified Financial Education Instructor and Award-Winning Author.

Movie Monday: Encanto
Monday, September 18th at 4 p.m.
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by watching the movie Encanto, which takes place in Columbia! We will provide arepas, a treat made of cornmeal, that Mirabel's mother makes in the movie (except these arepas will not be made with magic). Bring your friends to enjoy this movie and eat delicious food!

Historical Miniature Gaming Club
Thursday, September 21st at 3 p.m.
Players will participate in strategy based games using painted miniature figures and terrained boards reminiscent of some famous conflicts in history. Come and play in a grand castle siege game set during the reign of Henry V and the Hundred Years War. Plenty of catapults, siege towers, battering rams, and scaling ladders for the attackers. Boiling oil, rocks, archers and determined defenders await. Games are facilitated by experts from HMGS Next Gen, Inc. who have great experience in running games that are fun and challenging for players.

Wednesday, September 27th at 3 p.m.
Do you like scrolling on TikTok and keeping up with the trends? Head over to Darien Library's Teen Lounge to make sour patch grapes, pair Fruit Roll-ups with Ice Cream, create your own 'red flags', and take home some popular BookTok books! Celebrate all things 'library friendly' on TikTok. The librarians might even let you teach them a dance or two!

Weekly Fun for Teens!
The Friday Thing
Every Friday at 3 p.m.
What is the Friday Thing? It's a time to come to the Teen Lounge, eat snacks, do a craft, play some video games with your friends, or talk with our Librarians about the things that you love! It is an open hangout so bring your friends and come spend some time in the Teen Lounge.
