Hello, Americantowns!

November marks the end of warmer months as we usher in the harvest and prepare our kitchens for Thanksgiving. Whether we’re trying a new recipe or decorating for friendly get-togethers, it is the season of fresh, crisp days, and cozy nights. However, no season is complete without a good book to curl up with and quietly reflect on or discuss with others. If you are looking for a recommendation, try a new family saga this holiday season.

Did you know that there are over 300 Native American languages? November is an opportunity to celebrate the rich culture and important contributions of Native Americans. Check out our current book display in the Library for Native American Heritage Month.

To help you find that perfect read, take a look at some of our librarians’ favorite books this month!

Critics are calling Alice McDermott’s new novel her masterpiece and Ann Patchett sees it as a strong contender for the Pulitzer.

Absolution is the story of two young American wives in Vietnam in 1963. This was an era when wives were seen and not heard and meant to be helpmates for their husbands. Tricia, a shy newlywed, and Charlene, a bossy, conniving do-gooder, form an unlikely friendship and set out to “do good.”
