From: Darien LibraryIn 1889, renowned environmentalist John Muir and editor Robert Underwood Johnson ventured to Yosemite Valley to discover a shocking vision of a once-beautiful landscape: predatory mining, tourism, and logging made the environment unrecognizable.
They decided to fight back and restore the land to what it was, leading to the creation of Yosemite National Park. Without Muir and Johnson, one of the most important national parks in our country may have been lost to time.
Discover the story behind their environmental battle with Dean King, author of Guardians of the Valley, on Tuesday, April 18th at 7 p.m.
