Cleveland Metroparks Weekly Spotlight

The baby bison needs a name! Stay tuned to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's social media pages for an opportunity to help name the Zoo's newest resident in the coming days. 

Tonight: Free live music from 5 to 8 p.m. with Michelle Romary (Country, Pop) at Huntington Reservation for the third week of the Summer Concert Series presented by Serpentini Chevrolet

Save the date: Sign-up now for the Whiskey Island 5K presented by CrossCountry Mortgage on July 16. This walk/run includes the Whiskey Island Trail and Wendy Park Bridge along the lakefront.

Guarded Swimming Begins Saturday, June 3

Swimming is available at six guarded locations, including Edgewater Beach, Wallace Lake, Villa Angela in Euclid Creek Reservation, Huntington Beach, Hinckley Lake Spillway and Ledge Pool during posted dates & times. Swimming and beach conditions are updated during guarded swimming hours and can be found at clevelandmetroparks.com/beaches.

Kids Nature Lunch & Learn Are Back!

Free summer learning is back at Cleveland Metroparks. The 2023 Kids Nature Lunch & Learn Series with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank connects youth with limited access to free summer learning opportunities across the Park District. The series kicks off June 7 and will be hosted Wednesdays at Euclid Creek Reservation’s Highland Picnic Area, Thursdays at Bedford Reservation’s Hemlock Creek Picnic Area and Fridays at Lakefront Reservation near Edgewater Beach.

Metrohealth Resiliency Run

Join MetroHealth for the 7th Annual Resiliency Run honoring MetroHealth survivors on Saturday, June 10 at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Funds raised will benefit trauma and burn survivors who come to MetroHealth for critical care as well as other healthcare needs. Children and families are welcome and admission to the Zoo is included with race entry.

Fri., June 2: Celebrate National Trails Day with the Emmy-nominated documentary Trail Magic: The Grandma Gatewood Story at Brecksville’s Trailside Program Center. $5, registration required.

Sat., June 3:

- Join us for a dog hike through West Creek Reservation at P.U.P. Day Pop-Up and take home a P.U.P. sign for your yard and collapsible water bowl for your four-legged friend. Free.

- Celebrate the Canal Era at Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation with history fun, a play, live music, cart tours and more at Canal Days! Free.

Sun., June 4:

- Join us at Euclid Creek Reservation for Snow in June? This program takes a deep dive into cottonwood trees, seeds, and a pinch of Cleveland history. Free.

- Celebrate the Canal Era at Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation with history fun, a play, live music, cart tours and more at day two of Canal Days! Free. 

Mon., June 5: Explore the Rocky River Channel Pond and nearby trails with a member of the Outdoor Recreation team at Trail Challenge Hike with Outdoor Recreation. Free, registration required.

Tues., June 6: Learn how to fly-fish at Try-It: Fly Fishing (Casting) in Rocky River Reservation. This program is dry land casting only. $5, registration required.

Wed., June 7: Meet for a Midweek Meander through Mill Stream Run Reservation and explore the area near Baldwin Lake. Free.

Thurs., June 8: Join us for Art in the Park: Beachcombing and help clean up the beach and make upcycled art at Euclid Beach. Free.
