- Saturday: Grab your stand up paddleboard or kayak to celebrate the 9th annual Whiskey Island Paddlefest this Saturday, August 19 at Wendy Park!

- Next Week: Cleveland Metroparks and KeyBank announced AdventureKeys, an expansion of the ZooKeys exploration program where children can unlock exclusive video messages from experts. AdventureKeys will debut at the opening of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s newest habitat, Susie’s Bear Hollow, on Friday, August 25!

WILDFLOWERS ARE BLOOMING

Check out this month’s Ten to Explore presented by Wayside Furniture for ten spots to take in blooming summer wildflowers.

MEET FILBERT!

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo recently welcomed “Filbert”, a 3-year-old male meerkat from the Memphis Zoo. Filbert joins female, Jenny, at the meerkat exhibit at African Elephant Crossing, stop by and say hi on your next visit!

UPCOMING NATURE PROGRAMS

Fri., Aug. 18: Hike through the beautiful hemlock forest surrounding Look About Lodge and then reflect through writing at Pop Up with Lake Erie Ink: Forest Hike. Free.

Sat., Aug. 19: 

Learn history about two of our most beloved animals at Busy as a Beaver and Eagle-Eyed in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation. Free. 

Bring your best furry friend for exercise and socialization at Dog Hike in North Chagrin Reservation. Free.  

Sun., Aug. 20: 

Discover different kinds of bugs that can be found in your backyard at Nature Sprouts: Backyard Bugs. Free, ages 3-5 with adult. 

Join us at Hike Brecksville and explore 4.5-miles of trails as part of our monthly hiking series. Free.

Learn about the geology of the Rocky River at River Rocks Hike. Free.  

Wed., Aug. 23: 

Hike with us through Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation and learn to identify the calls of cicadas at Cicadas Every Year? Free. 

At Reading the Forest Landscape we’ll learn how to be nature’s detective and take a deeper look at the forest landscape. Free, ages 12 years and older with adult.  

Thurs., Aug. 24: Take the Evening Adventure Hike and explore the unique features of West Creek Reservation. Free.
